Christmas and New Year are approaching quickly and I have published a new calendar “Basel & Laufenburg – Altstädte am Rhein” just in time. I took this photo for the calendar in April when I was blessed with a completely calm Rhine River that made a perfect reflection of the old houses at the Swiss part of Laufenburg possible. Switzerland and Germany are connected by the old stone bridge that you can see on the right hand side. Nowadays, there are no border controls anymore and the bridge is closed for vehicles. Most interestingly, there was only one Laufenburg, which belonged to Lower Austria! About 200 years ago, a little man called Napoleon eventually decided that the Rhine river would be the border and assigned the larger part to Switzerland and the other side to Germany.
The calendar is available in sizes from A4 to A2 and starts at 23.90 Euro plus shipping. It can be ordered via ISBN in your local bookstore, at Amazon or Buch24.de. Please view all options and / or order at our calendar website at Calvendo: Basel & Laufenburg: Altstädte am Rhein
